Ukraine–Romania Hold High-Level Security Talks, Sign Strategic Defence Partnership

In a significant development for European security, leaders of Ukraine and Romania held high-level talks in Bucharest focused on strengthening defence cooperation, regional security, and energy collaboration amid the ongoing war with Russia.
During the visit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met Romanian President Nicușor Dan at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, where both leaders signed a declaration establishing a strategic partnership in defence and energy sectors.
The talks are seen as a major step in strengthening security cooperation between the two neighboring countries and enhancing NATO’s eastern defence architecture.
Joint Drone Production to Boost Defence
One of the most important outcomes of the talks was an agreement to jointly produce Ukrainian defence systems, including drones, in Romania.
Under the agreement, Ukrainian drone technology and software will be integrated into Romanian defence production facilities, allowing both countries to expand their military capabilities.

During his visit, Zelenskyy also toured a Romanian facility where Ukrainian pilots are being trained to operate F-16 fighter jets.

The training is expected to significantly improve Ukraine’s air-defence capabilities as it continues to defend its territory against Russian missile and drone attacks.
