DMK Finalises Seat-Sharing Pact with VCK

DMK Finalises Seat-Sharing Pact with VCK, Allocates 8 Assembly Seats Ahead of Tamil Nadu Polls

News Report by Y-Trendz

In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has reached a seat-sharing agreement with its ally,

the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), allocating eight constituencies to the Dalit-centric party.

The agreement reinforces the strength of the DMK-led alliance, which is gearing up to consolidate its voter base across key regions of Tamil Nadu. Sources within the alliance indicated that negotiations between the two parties were concluded amicably, with both sides expressing satisfaction over the final arrangement.

VCK, led by Thol. Thirumavalavan, has been a long-time ally of the DMK and plays a crucial role in mobilising support among Dalit and marginalised communities. The allocation of eight seats is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the alliance’s social coalition and electoral prospects.

Senior leaders from the DMK highlighted that the seat-sharing formula was finalised after considering past performance, demographic factors, and the need to maintain alliance unity. Party insiders believe that this arrangement will help avoid vote-splitting and enhance the coalition’s chances against opposition parties.

While the specific constituencies to be contested by VCK are yet to be officially announced, discussions are reportedly focused on regions where the party has a strong grassroots presence.

Political analysts view this agreement as a continuation of DMK’s inclusive alliance strategy, aimed at building a broad-based front ahead of the elections. The DMK leadership is expected to finalise similar agreements with other alliance partners in the coming days.

As election preparations intensify, the DMK-VCK pact signals a clear intent to present a united front, with both parties confident of securing a decisive mandate in the state.
