Second U.S. Warplane Hit

Second U.S. Warplane Hit by Iran During Rescue Mission; A-10 Pilot Safe, Black Hawk Helicopters Damaged

By Y-Trendz | News Report

The ongoing U.S.–Iran conflict has taken a sharp turn as a second American warplane was hit during active combat operations, while U.S. forces were attempting a high-risk rescue mission for a downed crew member inside Iranian territory.

A-10 Thunderbolt Struck, Pilot Rescued Safely

In a significant escalation, an American A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft was hit by Iranian fire during operations linked to the rescue of a previously downed jet.

  • The aircraft sustained damage but managed to reach safer airspace near Kuwait.

  • The pilot ejected successfully and was rescued alive, according to U.S. officials.

Iranian state media claimed responsibility, stating its air defense systems targeted and struck the aircraft near the Strait of Hormuz

Earlier Incident Triggered Rescue Operation

The rescue mission was launched after a U.S. F-15E fighter jet was shot down over Iran, marking a major battlefield development.

  • One crew member has been rescued.

  • Another remains missing, prompting urgent search-and-rescue operations.

This incident represents one of the most serious losses for U.S. forces in the ongoing conflict.

Two UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopters Hit

During the rescue mission, two U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters came under Iranian fire:

  • Both helicopters were hit while attempting to recover the downed pilot.

  • Despite damage and some reported injuries, they managed to exit safely from hostile airspace.

These helicopters were part of a coordinated combat search-and-rescue effort, highlighting the risks faced by U.S. forces operating deep inside contested territory.

Active Search-and-Rescue Mission Underway

The United States has launched a full-scale search-and-rescue (SAR) mission to locate the missing crew member:

  • Special forces, aircraft, and surveillance assets are actively involved.

  • Iranian sources claim local efforts are also underway to locate the pilot first, raising concerns about possible capture.

Rising Tensions and Strategic Concerns

The incidents have raised serious questions about:

  • Air superiority claims made earlier by U.S. leadership

  • Iran’s continued air defense capabilities, including mobile missile systems

  • Increasing risks to U.S. personnel operating in hostile territory

Military analysts note that the ability of Iranian forces to strike multiple aircraft—including jets and helicopters—signals a contested and dangerous airspace, rather than uncontested dominance.

Conclusion

The downing of a second U.S. aircraft, damage to rescue helicopters, and an ongoing mission to recover a missing pilot underscore the intensifying nature of the U.S.–Iran war.

While one A-10 pilot is safe and rescue crews survived despite being hit, the situation remains volatile as U.S. forces continue efforts to bring back the missing airman amid active enemy engagement.
