MP Govt Recommends CBI Probe

The Madhya Pradesh government has officially recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the high-profile death case of actress-model Twisha Sharma.

The state Home Department issued a notification proposing the transfer of the investigation to the CBI amid growing public pressure and allegations of dowry harassment raised by her family.

Twisha Sharma was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Her family alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment by her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge. An FIR was registered under sections related to dowry death, harassment, and criminal conspiracy.

The decision to seek a CBI investigation came after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met Twisha’s father and brother and assured them of an impartial probe. The state government has also moved the High Court seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh, alleging possible tampering of evidence and non-cooperation with investigators.

Meanwhile, Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh remains absconding, and police have announced a cash reward for information leading to his arrest. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has also ordered a second post-mortem examination, with doctors from AIIMS Delhi expected to participate, following objections raised by the family regarding the first autopsy.

The case has drawn nationwide attention due to allegations of evidence manipulation, suspicious phone calls made after the incident, and claims of influence being used to obstruct the investigation. The transfer to the CBI is being viewed as an attempt to ensure transparency and restore public confidence in the probe.
