National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has issued a strong warning against what he described as “double standards” in the global fight against terrorism.
Speaking at the International Security Forum in Moscow, Doval said responsible nations must clearly decide whether they stand with countries combating terrorism or with those accused of sponsoring extremist groups.
Doval emphasized that selective approaches towards terrorism weaken international security frameworks and embolden terror networks. His remarks are being viewed as a sharp diplomatic message amid ongoing global debates over cross-border terrorism, state-sponsored militant infrastructure, and differing international responses to terror incidents.
Addressing delegates at the Moscow security gathering hosted by Sergei Shoigu, Doval stated that every nation has a responsibility to take decisive action against terrorist groups and their financiers. He stressed that counter-terrorism policies cannot succeed if countries apply different standards depending on geopolitical interests.
Apart from terrorism, Doval also raised concerns about instability in West Asia and its possible impact on global trade routes. He called for secure and uninterrupted navigation through critical waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, warning that regional tensions could disrupt international commerce and energy supplies.
The Indian NSA further advocated reforms in global security institutions formed after World War II, arguing that the changing multipolar world requires stronger representation for nations from the Global South. According to Doval, present-day geopolitical realities demand more inclusive and effective international decision-making structures.
The Moscow forum brought together senior security officials from multiple countries to discuss terrorism, regional conflicts, maritime security, and emerging geopolitical threats in an increasingly polarized global environment.
