Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump are scheduled to hold bilateral talks on June 17 on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France. The meeting has been confirmed by senior U.S. administration officials and is expected to be one of the key diplomatic engagements during the summit.
According to reports, discussions are likely to focus on strengthening India–U.S. relations, trade negotiations, investment partnerships, supply chain resilience, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, energy security, and major global geopolitical developments. Officials have indicated that trade will be a major agenda item, although a final trade agreement is not expected to be concluded during the meeting.
The Modi–Trump interaction will be their first face-to-face bilateral meeting in over a year and comes at a time when both nations are seeking deeper cooperation on economic growth, technology, and strategic security issues. The meeting is also expected to provide an opportunity for both leaders to review progress in bilateral ties and discuss regional and international challenges.
Prime Minister Modi is attending the G7 Summit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, where he is also expected to hold discussions with several world leaders and represent the interests of the Global South.
